FAQ

We want booking with us to be as simple as possible, that's why we've created this area of the website, full of frequently asked questions to help answer any queries you may have. Of course, we love to hear from you so, if you can't find what you're looking for below, don't hesitate to get in touch.

  • How much are your tours?
Guide prices shown in the tours guide (this can be downloaded from the Tours page) are in US dollars and based on one adult departing during low season. Discounts will be applied to groups. Prices will vary dependent on the season - low or high. Some bookings will straddle the two, requiring a bespoke quotation. You can request a quote using the form on our Contact page. Please let us know how many people are in your group (including children and their ages), your proposed arrival and departure dates and the name of your chosen tour for an accurate price.
  • What about children?
Costs vary depending on the ages of the children. Please contact us for an accurate price.
  • What's included?
As we have a wide variety of tours available, what is/isn't included tends to differ, especially with regards to meals. Our team will let you know exactly what additional expenses you might incur once your itinerary has been finalised. That being said, our tours almost always include in the price: transfers, accommodation, guides, entrance fees and transportation. Private expenses, service charges, travel/medical insurance, visas and flights are almost always NOT included.
  • Can I create a bespoke itinerary?
Absolutely. We understand that everyone is different, with different needs and interests. We've designed our range of tours to cover the most popular attractions in East Africa whilst offering something a little bit different, however, if a more tailored tour is what you're after, just get in touch with us. For those interested in the most authentic experience possible, we can also arrange trips to villages in Tanzania where you can participate in a range of activities; from preparing local dishes with Mama Pare in her Manyara Restaurant to performing an Ikoma dance routine with the Ikoma Ghayenya Group. Visit the Experiences page to browse or contact us for more information.
  • Will my itinerary change?
Although every effort is made to adhere to schedules, it may be necessary to occasionally change routes as dictated by changing conditions, such as seasonal rainfall, game migrations, booking problems etc. We will communicate any changes as quickly and efficiently as possible. If you would like to make any changes to your itinerary, get in touch with us as soon as possible.
  • What is your cancellation policy?
All cancellations must be received in writing. As all suppliers charge cancellation fees, they are in turn passed on to us. Bookings that are cancelled, reduced in length or number are subject to cancellation fees. -No cancellation charge if cancelled 6 weeks prior to arrival -50% of booking value if cancelled less than 6 weeks prior to arrival
  • How much luggage can I bring?
If your tour involves domestic flights you will need to check the airline's luggage allowances. In general though, soft-sided luggage or duffels are preferable to hard luggage for storage on vehicles within East Africa. Large suitcases of dimensions greater than 24" x 17" x 7" are impossible to store in vehicles and on aircraft and should not be used. Of course, all luggage and personal effects are brought at the owner's risk throughout the tour. Luggage insurance is strongly advised.
  • Can I have a female guide?
Yes! We wouldn't be Sheba without championing the women working in our industry so, if at any point during your tour you would prefer a female guide or driver, just ask. It's really important to us that women, in particular those travelling alone, feel safe on our tours. Further still, we encourage women to learn from other women and help form an international Sheba community rooted in female empowerment. That's why we offer a range of experiences, including a female only hike and female-led workshop series. Find out more on our Experiences page.
  • Is Sheba Tours just for women?
Absolutely not. Our tour company serves everyone. We simply believe that more leadership opportunities should be made available to women and therefore are exclusively women-owned and run. We are happy to work with both men and women however and ALL are welcome at our lodge and on our tours.
  • How do I book?
To make a tour booking with us, first complete the form on our Contact page. Once we have received your information we'll be in touch with you to go over the details you provided, flesh out your itinerary and confirm costs. Depending on how far in advance your booking is either the entire amount, or a portion of it will be required to secure your booking.
